Kichen

Of course with the holidays fast approaching we are all starting to head into the kitchen. I currently don't have full use of a kitchen so here is my piecing together of some great kitchens I've come across in my 30 years. There seems to be a strong historical influence element. They are my favorites; I love a busy full of life kitchen.

42

Getting the perspective on a odd shaped tree house seems to be my newest challenge this week. This is one of the two that I was working on yesterday. Loving the brick center piece in this one; should do my drawings with detailed interior. They are always my favorite and more interesting to look at.

struggle

I have no idea but for whatever reason I had the hardest time drawing the past week. I've started and stopped and redrawn so many different works. So of them have been placed on the back-burner due to my frustration with them. This one was re-worked and restarted four times over. It's still no perfect but I am pretty happy with it all the same. One of my new housemates was looking over my shoulder while I was roughing in the lines and said it looked like a Escher drawing. Believe I lost that appeal when I inked the rest of the drawing.

#Draw4Atena

An artist that I follow Gavin Aung posted http://zenpencils.com/comic/atena/ today and brought to my attention the plight that Atena a Iranian woman and artist is undergoing. I can't even start to imagine having all my rights striped away from me and barred from as these women. Atena is stronger and braver than I can ever comprehend and maybe that is because so many American woman have already fought and continue to stand in the fight for equality, choice and freedom of voice. I can only hope that my drawing can join the thongs of others to offer support to my fellow artist who is being beaten by those who don't want to or worst can't understand there fellow country woman. I know that her life has been upturned and she will never be the same person that had innocently placed a political caricature on Facebook about a ruling that was undergoing in her country that would continue to limit her and fellow women status in there culture and daily lives.

This is for you Atena Farghadani.

freedom

"It's not just a keel and hull and a deck and sails.
That's what a ship needs.
But what a ship is... what the Black Pearl
really is... is freedom."

20 of 22

Having a day off is always helpful when one feels inspired. Though it seems there is just not enough time to get everything done. Yesterday I decided that I was just going to let the rest fall to the way side and draw cause that's what I needed. The rest of the week may well be interesting since I didn't make it to the grocery nor did I pay any heed to my mound of laundry. Though I did set my goal on Monday 4/30 and going to see just how many tree house drawings that I can create. Understand that this is going to take time, I know that creating one hundred different/interesting creations is a lofty one. This is one of the three that I brought to life yesterday.

drawings 3/23

Some redo drawings for a project I've been working on. Hopefully these are easier to tell what they are unlike my first go around. Which were a little suspect, beautiful of course but to artsy. What do ya'll think they are?

Hint... it's not cotton but the other crop that has been known to keep North Carolina afloat.

line drawing (Durham bull)

Super rough but wanted to share, been working on a whole host of project over my mid week weekend. Most of which involving a lot of Photoshop and layout. But this is a fun side project that I picked up at work; being the second resident artist.

Bear Fort

I haven't had a whole lot of luck drawing pine tree's in the past. This was the day to change all that. Being a good southern girl I typically would chose a set of Black Bears. My mom loves these lovely, timid, fierce creatures.

Alice

Playing with different ideas of reuse with my last drawing throw open the doors. Using doors in substitute for solid walls makes perfect since being a tree house. Being of an inquiring mind I wanted to create a tree house using doors as the platform. Think just how interesting to be able to stand on a glass section of the floor and see what's going on below. All the while surrounded by all the different old doors of different weights and dimensions that have come together to create a whole. Understandably not very practical for a tree house since the glass sections would have to be reinforced and/or very thick glass to hold anyone but all the same.

So if you will lets turn the world a little and walk on the doors and glass windows as shelter.

Spinning to the Top of the World

This is for all those who miss the sunshine on there faces and the wind at there back. Seems that it's been a cold and damp winter thus far. The dampness is sinking into my bones and don't know if I'll ever warm up.

I do have to admit it's been a good long while since I've been able and/or willing to sit at my drawing table. I've moved since my last post, started a second job, traded in my car that kept catching on fire and was blessed to be able to leave Starbucks for a full time retail gig. All of this seemed to send me spinning in a tizzy and I've since then been trying desperately to regain my center.
